Baroness Anna Plochl, the heartthrob of Archduke Johann and later the Countess of Meran, dedicated her life to charity work. After she died in 1908, her legacy continued. The Villa became a health resort for children nestled next to the Savudrija lighthouse. It was a tranquil and lovely setting to heal from respiratory illnesses.
After World War I, the resort transitioned into the hands of the Codiglia family and then to the municipality of Graz in 1924. The house maintained its original purpose through World War II. It underwent renovation in 1998. It was transformed into the apartment hotel we now know as Vila Valdepian.
